Speakers Announced for Fourth Annual State of the Schools Address

Dr. Jim McIntyre, Superintendent of the Knox County Schools, has announced the lineup of speakers for the Fourth Annual State of the Schools Address.

The State of the Schools Address will provide an overview of academic progress in the Knox County Schools, give an update on implementation of the five-year strategic plan, entitled Excellence for Every Child, and outline the educational goals and aspirations for the coming year.

Speakers involved in this year’s event are:
  • Mike McMillan – Chairman, Knox County Board of Education (District 8)
  • Adam Hasan – Student Representative, Knox County Board of Education. Hasan is a senior at Bearden High School.
  • Brandon Duplantis – Senior, South-Doyle High School
  • Amy Slay – Kindergarten teacher, Inskip Elementary School
  • Renee Kelly – Principal, West Valley Middle School
The State of the Schools Address will be on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Austin-East Magnet High School (2800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue). The event is open to the public. Supporting sponsors of the event are the Knox County Education Association, the Knox County Council PTA and the Great Schools Partnership.

The State of the Schools Address will be broadcast live on KCS-TV on Comcast Cable Channel 10 and AT&T U- Verse Channel 99. Additionally, it will be broadcast on WBIR-10News2 and streamed live at www.knoxschools.org.
