Dr. Jennifer Atkins is Appointed Principal at the Copper Ridge Elementary School
trentDr. Jennifer Atkins has been appointed the principal at Copper Ridge Elementary School. Dr. Atkins has served as an assistant principal at Copper Ridge Elementary School and Halls Elementary School. She joined the Knox County Schools in 2000 as a teacher at Fountain City Elementary School and has also served as a teacher at Brickey-McCloud Elementary School.

Dr. Atkins holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education, both from the University of Tennessee. She also holds an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee and a Doctorate of Education Degree in Executive Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Seth Smith is Appointed Principal at the Richard Yoakley School
trentSeth Smith has been appointed the Principal at the Richard Yoakley School. Mr. Smith is currently serving as an assistant principal at Central High School. He began his tenure with the Knox County Schools in 1997 as a social studies teacher at Farragut High School and has also served as a social studies teacher at Fulton High School. Mr. Smith moved into administration in 2006 as an assistant principal at Carter High School, and has also served as an assistant principal at Farragut High School.

Mr. Smith hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Education conferred by the University of Tennessee and also a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Dr. Chad Smith is Appointed Principal at Powell High School
trentDr. Chad Smith has been appointed the Principal at Powell High School. Dr. Smith is currently Principal at Carter Middle School and was previously an assistant principal at Carter High School. He joined the Knox County Schools in 2001 as a teacher at South-Doyle High Schools where he served until his appointment as an assistant Principal at Carter High School in 2011.

Dr. Smith holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, a Master of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision all Conferred by Tennessee Technological University. His Doctor of Educational Leadership degree was conferred by Trevecca University.
 
Thomas Watson is Appointed Principal at Carter Middle School
watsontommy Thomas Watson has been appointed the Principal at Carter Middle School. Mr. Watson began his career with the Knox County Schools in 1996 as a teacher at Whittle Springs Middle School and also served as a teacher at Carter Middle School. In addition to serving as a teacher, Mr. Watson has served as an Administrative Assistant at Green Magnet Science and Math Academy and an Assistant Principal at Northwest Middle School. He is currently Principal at Richard Yoakley School.

Mr. Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, and a Master of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, all conferred by the University of Tennessee. Mr. Watson also holds an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Weston Edmonds is Appointed Principal at Farragut Middle School
wedmonds Weston Edmonds has been appointed the Principal at Farragut Middle School. Mr. Edmonds has served as an assistant principal and athletic director at Farragut Middle School since 2013. He began his career with the Knox County Schools in 2004 as a social studies teacher at Farragut High School and has also served as an assistant principal at Central High School.

Mr. Edmonds holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a Master of Science Degree in Education, both conferred by the University of Tennessee. He also holds an Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University.
 
Dr. Julia Kirk is Appointed Principal at Sequoyah Elementary School
trentDr. Julia Kirk has been appointed the Principal of Sequoyah Elementary School. Dr. Kirk is currently serving as the Director of Program Management for the Knox County Schools Curriculum and Instruction department. She began her teaching career in 2005 as a business teacher for Knox County Schools. She has also served as a business teacher, a curriculum and technology integration coach, and an assistant principal for Oak Ridge City Schools. Prior to serving in her current role, Dr. Kirk served as an Executive Director of the First Tennessee CORE office and a Regional Data Analyst for the Tennessee Department of Education.

Dr. Kirk holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science Degree in Business Education from Middle Tennessee State University, and a Doctorate in Education Psychology and Research conferred from the University of Tennessee.
 
Sarah Brengle is Appointed Principal at Ball Camp Elementary School
trentSarah Brengle has been appointed the Principal of Ball Camp Elementary School. Ms. Brengle began her career with Knox County schools in 1997 as a teacher at Karns Intermediate School and taught several years at Hardin Valley Elementary School. In addition to serving 15 years as a classroom teacher, Ms. Brengle enjoyed 14 years of coaching girls’ basketball at Central High School and Karns High School. Ms. Brengle is currently serving as assistant
principal at Ball Camp Elementary School, a position she has held since 2012.

Ms. Brengle holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary English from Emory & Henry College and also holds a Master of Science Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee.
 
Danny Trent is Appointed Supervisor of Secondary Education
trentI have appointed Danny Trent to the position of Supervisor of Secondary Education. Mr. Trent joined the Knox County Schools in 1992 as a resource specialist and was assigned to Halls Middle School. He has served as both an assistant principal and Principal at Carter Middle School. Mr. Trent also served as Principal at Karns Middle School from 2003 to 2009 and Central High School from 2009 to 2013. He is currently serving as Principal at Farragut Middle School.

Mr. Trent holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Science Degree in Education Administration and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum Instruction, both from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Nathan Langlois is Appointed Principal at Austin-East Magnet High School
langloisNathan Langlois has been appointed the Principal at Austin-East Magnet High School. Mr. Langlois is currently the Principal at Powell High School. He was previously an assistant principal at Hardin Valley Academy and a fellow in the 2013 cohort of the Principal Leadership Academy. Mr. Langlois began his career in education as a social studies teacher in Cobb County, Georgia in 1994. He entered school administration in 2004 and served as an administrative assistant and assistant principal in Georgia. He joined the Knox County Schools in 2010.

Mr. Langlois Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Jacksonville State University.
 
Shelli Eberle is appointed Principal at Ft. Sanders Educational Development Center
eberleI have Appointed Shelli Eberle to be the Principal at the Ft. Sanders Educational Development Center. Ms. Eberle is currently an assistant principal at West Hills Elementary School. She joined the Knox County Schools in 2006 as a teacher at the Green Magnet Academy and subsequently taught at New Hopewell Elementary School.

Ms. Eberle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies and a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education conferred by the University of Tennessee. She also holds an Education Specialist degree in Leadership and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Keith Cottrell is Appointed Principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School
cottrellKeith Cottrell has been appointed the Principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School. Mr. Cottrell is currently serving as the assistant principal at Farragut Primary School. He began his career with the Knox County Schools in 1998 as a third grade teacher at Cedar Bluff Intermediate School and has also served as a teacher at A. L. Lotts Elementary, Blue Grass Elementary, and Sterchi Elementary Schools. In 2011 Mr. Cottrell entered the second cohort of the Leadership Academy and served as an assistant principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School.

Mr. Cottrell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Carson-Newman College, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Cheryl Hickman is Appointed Executive Director of Secondary Education
hickmanCheryl Hickman has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of Secondary Education. Ms. Hickman joined the Knox County Schools in 1983 as an English teacher at Doyle High School after teaching for several years at Seymour High School in Sevier County. She was appointed an assistant principal at Carter High School in 1999 and Principal in 2001. Ms. Hickman is currently serving as a Supervisor of Secondary Education, a position she has held since 2013.

Ms. Hickman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision, all from the University of Tennessee.
 
Beth Lackey is Appointed Principal at Spring Hill Elementary School
blackeyBeth Lackey has been appointed the Principal at Spring Hill Elementary School. Ms. Lackey is currently the Principal at Green Magnet Academy and has also served as the Principal at Norwood Elementary School. She joined the Knox County Schools in 2006 as an assistant principal at Powell High School. She has previously served in a number of teaching and administrative positions with various school systems in Georgia.

Ms. Lackey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Master of Education degree in Science Education from the University of North Carolina. She also holds an Education Specialist degree in Mathematics Education and an administration certification from the University of Georgia.
 
Dexter Murphy is Appointed Principal at Green Magnet Academy
bblevins Dexter Murphy has been appointed the Principal at Green Magnet Academy. Mr. Murphy is currently an assistant principal at the Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy. He joined the Knox County Schools in 2009 as a teacher at Pond Gap Elementary School and was a fellow in the 2013 cohort for the Principal Leadership Academy serving as an assistant principal at Vine Middle School during his experience with the Leadership Academy.

Mr. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Tennessee.
 
Beth Blevins is Appointed Principal at West View Elementary School
bblevins Beth Blevins has been appointed the Principal at West View Elementary School. Ms. Blevins is currently the Principal at South-Doyle Middle School, and she is also a member of our inaugural class of the Principal Leadership Academy. She joined the Knox County Schools in 1993 and has served in a number of positions to include assistant principal at Northwest Middle School, Talented and Gifted teacher, first grade teacher, Consistency Management Cooperative Discipline Advisor for Project GRAD, and reading and language arts coach.

Ms. Blevins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Development from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Education degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University, and an Urban Specialist certificate from the University of Tennessee.
 
Taiwo Sutton is Appointed Principal of South-Doyle Middle School
tsutton Taiwo Sutton has been appointed the Principal at South-Doyle Middle School. Mr. Sutton is currently an assistant principal at Fulton High School where he has served since joining the Knox County Schools in July 2014. He comes to the Knox County Schools with a number of years of experience as both a principal and assistant principal in several schools in Ohio.

Mr. Sutton holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Alabama State University and a Master of Education degree in Education Leadership from Wright State University.
 
Jessica Smith is Appointed as Principal at Halls Middle School
jsmith Jessica Smith has been appointed the Principal at Halls Middle School. Ms. Smith is currently serving as the interim Principal at Carter Elementary School and was previously an assistant principal at Carter Middle School. She joined the Knox County Schools in 2004 as a language arts teacher at Carter Middle School and also served as a Master Teacher at Carter Middle before entering administration.

Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Carson-Newman University, a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tusculum College and an Educational Specialist degree in Supervision and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Julie Thompson is Appointed as Executive Director of Elementary Education
juliethompson Ms. Julie Thompson has been appointed the Executive Director of Elementary Education for the Knox County Schools. Ms. Thompson is currently serving as an elementary supervisor, a position she has held since 2012. Previously, she served as the Principal of Carter Elementary School where she has served from 2003 through 2012. She joined the Knox County Schools in 1993 as a teacher at Corryton Elementary School and has also served as an administrative intern at Christenberry Elementary School.

Ms. Thompson holds Bachelor and Master of Sciences degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee as well as an Education Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision, from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Christy Dowell is Appointed an Elementary Supervisor
christydowell Ms. Christy Dowell has been appointed as an elementary education supervisor for the Knox County Schools. Ms. Dowell is currently the Principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School where she has served since 2013. Ms. Dowell also served as the Principal at Ritta Elementary School from 2006 to 2013. She joined the Knox County Schools in August of 2000 as a 5th grade teacher at Inskip Elementary School. Beginning in 2003 she served as an Administrative Assistant at Inskip until she was appointed Principal at Ritta Elementary.

Ms. Dowell holds an Associate of Science degree in Multi-disciplinary Studies K-8 from Roane State Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Multi-disciplinary Studies K-8 and a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University.
 
Connie Smith is Appointed Principal of West Haven Elementary School 
conniesmith Connie Smith has been appointed to be the Principal at West Haven Elementary School where she is currently serving as assistant principal. Ms. Smith joined the Knox County Schools in 1991 as a teacher at WestHaven. She entered administration in 2010 as an assistant principal at Belle Morris Elementary School and assumed the same position at West Haven Elementary in August of 2014.

Ms. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Arts degree in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee Technological University and an Education Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Brandon Pratt is Appointed Principal of Northshore Elementary School
brandonpratt Brandon Pratt has been appointed to be the Principal at Northshore Elementary School. Mr. Pratt is currently the Principal at Ball Camp Elementary School where he has served since 2012. He joined the Knox County Schools in 2001 as a teacher at Cedar Bluff Intermediate School after teaching for several years in Mississippi. He entered administration as an assistant principal at A. L. Lotts Elementary school in 2005 and has also served as Principal at Corryton Elementary and Sunnyview Primary Schools.

Mr. Pratt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree in Education Leadership both conferred by the University of Mississippi.

sunnypoe Dr. Sunny Poe has been appointed to be the Principal at Hardin Valley Elementary School. Dr. Poe is currently an assistant principal at Amherst Elementary School where she has served since 2013. She joined the Knox County Schools in 2004 as a teacher at A.L. Lotts Elementary School, and she has taught at a variety of schools across the district. She entered administration in 2008 as an assistant principal at Hardin Valley Elementary School.

Dr. Poe Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Tennessee. She also holds an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision and a doctoral degree in Executive Leadership conferred by Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Aaron Maddox is Appointed Principal of Corryton Elementary School
aaronmaddox Aaron Maddox has been appointed Principal at Corryton Elementary School where he has been serving as interim principal since February. Mr. Maddox joined the Knox County Schools in 1995 as a teacher at Fountain City Elementary School and also served as teacher at Copper Ridge Elementary. Mr. Maddox entered administration in 2009 when he was appointed as an Assistant Principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School prior to serving as an Assistant Principal at Dogwood Elementary in 2012.

Mr. Maddox holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee and an Education Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
 
Jamie Cantrill is Appointed Principal at Blue Grass Elementary School
cantrill Jamie Cantrill has been appointed Principal at Blue Grass Elementary School where he has been serving as assistant principal since July 2013. Mr. Cantrill joined the Knox County Schools in 2010 as an assistant principal at Karns High School and later served as an assistant principal at Powell High School. Prior to his tenure with the Knox County Schools he had an extensive background in elementary and secondary education at several schools in Kentucky.

Mr. Cantrill holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Physical Education and Health Education from Berea College and a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Leadership from Eastern Kentucky University.
 
Wanda McCown is Appointed Executive Director of Child Nutrition
cantrill Wanda McCown has been appointed as the Executive Director of Child Nutrition for the Knox County Schools. Ms. McCown joined the Knox County Schools in 1982 and has held a variety of leadership positions in our Child Nutrition Department since that time. Most recently Ms. McCown served as a senior field manager since 2000. She brings a wealth of child nutrition and leadership experience to this position, and we look forward to her tenure in the department.
 
  Dr. Clifford Davis is Appointed Chief of Staff
DavisC Dr. Clifford Davis has been appointed to the position of Chief of Staff for the Knox County Schools. Dr. Davis is currently the Executive Director of Secondary Education, a position he has held since 2012. Dr. Davis has previously served as the Supervisor for Secondary Education and as the Principal for South-Doyle and Karns High Schools. He joined Knox County Schools in 1990 as a mathematics teacher at Farragut Middle School, and also served as an assistant principal at Bearden Middle School from 1994 until his appointment as Principal at Cedar Bluff Middle School in 1999. Prior to joining Knox County Schools, Dr. Davis taught high school mathematics in Marengo County, Alabama. Dr. Davis holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics Education from Alabama A&M University, and Master of Mathematics, Education Specialist and Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Tennessee.
 
   Jeannie Dulaney is Appointed Community Relations Director
dulaney Ms. Jeannie Dulaney has been appointed to be the Director of Community Relations for the Knox County Schools. This is a position reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools that was established from the vacant Supervisor of Business Partnerships position, and it will have broad responsibilities in the areas of community relations and partnership. Ms. Dulaney has a very broad base of experience and knows the Knox County community well. She was most recently the Business Development Director for Lattimore, Black, Morgan and Cain a Tennessee CPA and business consulting firm. Prior to her current position, Ms. Dunaley was for many years the president and CEO of Leadership Knoxville. In this role she cultivated a wide array of leadership skills and acquired a deep understanding of the community as well as developing a familiarity with various leaders and organizations in the community. Ms. Dulaney holds Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee.
 
  Russ Oaks is Appointed Chief Operating Officer
Russ OaksRuss Oaks has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. This is a new position, but has been budgeted and unfilled for the past two fiscal years. This position will bring some much needed additional expertise and oversight to the operational areas of our school district, as this position will take over supervision of Enrollment, Transportation, Security, Nutrition Services, Information Technology, Maintenance, and Facilities. Mr. Oaks will report directly to the Superintendent, and will continue with his duties as Chief of Staff until a successor is appointed.

Mr. Oaks joined the Knox County Schools in 2001 as the communications supervisor. Prior to joining the Knox County Schools, he served for 20 years as an Armor Officer and Public Affairs Officer in the United States Army where he held many and varied leadership positions gaining broad experience in organizational leadership, operations, and management. Since 2009, he has served as the Chief of Staff for the Knox County Schools, where he has worked closely with all departments and all aspects of the school system.

Mr. Oaks hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Tennessee and is a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
 
  Dr. Daphne Odom is Appointed Director of Innovation and School Improvement
Daphne Odom
Dr. Daphne Odom has been appointed Director of Innovation and School Improvement. In this role, Dr. Odom will manage and support the district’s portfolio of innovative efforts, such as facilitating magnet school programs, specialized career and STEM programming, supporting improvement in our Priority Schools, as well as coordinating our Charter School relationships. Dr. Odom is currently serving as the co-principal of Beaumont Magnet School, and will transition to this existing, budgeted position in the coming months.

Dr. Odom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Science degree in Elementary Education, an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Leadership and Policy all conferred by the University of Tennessee.
