KCS to transition to new Student Information System

Over the summer, the Knox County Schools will transition to a new student information system that will provide families and staff with enhanced accessibility and more digital connectivity to their child’s classroom.

Due to the need to complete data transfers and validation between the old system and the new system, the systems will not be accessible during the month of June. This will delay the publication of schedules for our middle school and high school students. This year only, the schedules will be mailed to students and parents in July and school staff will be available to work with students and parents in those cases where adjustments may be necessary.
The transition to the new system also means that parent portal accounts through the existing website will no longer be available. New logins and instructions will be provided as soon as the new school year approaches. This new system will provide students, families and staff with greater functionality and real-time access to their student’s grades, attendance and other important information.
While this may mean a temporary inconvenience, when the new system is operational it will provide families and staff with greater functionality and accessibility. Information for next school year will be available on the following timeline:

  • Parents of high school students will receive student schedules in late-July via U.S. Mail.
  • Parents of middle school students will receive student placements and schedules in mid-July via U.S. Mail.
  • Parents of elementary school students will see the name of their child’s classroom teacher posted at the school in early August.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding through this transition. Should you have any questions, please contact the elementary education department at 594-1787, or secondary education department at 594-1710.
