Latest Message from Mr. Berry

Parents & students,

This is Tim Berry, Executive Principal of South-Doyle High School with some last minute reminders before school tomorrow.

First, tomorrow is the first day of school and it will be a very important half day. Procedures are very different this year and tomorrow gives us a chance to learn everything together, so we are ready to start learning on Tuesday. Please make sure you have downloaded your school schedule from ASPEN, so we can begin navigating you to your classes in the proper one-directional traffic flow inside the buildings.

Please make sure you have your mask when you arrive on campus or one will be provided for you. Masks must be worn at all times, except when eating in the cafeteria. They must not have logos, symbols or language that is in violation of school rules or disruptive to school learning.

All students must be dropped off the bus or as a car rider at the campus they have their first block class. All Young Campus students will enter through the cafeteria and all Main Campus students will enter through the front doors of Main Building A (up the steps and to the right only).

All students will receive a temperature check prior to entry into the buildings. Simply raise your wrist to the sensor and wait for the beep. Parents, please check your child’s temperature prior to leaving home to save you a trip back to the school. Any child with a temperature of 100.4 or higher, will go to isolation and must be picked up from school ASAP. I know leaving work or lack of transportation can be a concern, but they cannot remain at school.

Once they are cleared by the temperature checks, they will report to the cafeteria (if they are eating) or the respective campus gyms if they are not eating. Cafeteria seating is labeled for where a student can sit to maintain social distancing. The bells will release everyone at 8:15 AM and everyone must begin their walk to their first period classes. Because of social distancing and one-directional traffic flow, everyone will have to keep moving and not congregate in the hallways. Appropriate spacing outside the restrooms is also labeled to keep us appropriate spaced when waiting.

Once everyone gets to their classroom, I will begin our morning announcements via Microsoft Teams. Virtual School students will join us at that time as well! It is our hope, the new procedures and expectations will keep us healthy enough to stay with “in-person” school for long time. I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Grace and peace to you all!
