We wanted to reach out today and make you aware of some upcoming changes with high school basketball, cheerleading, and dance. The 2020 school year has presented many challenges, but we have overcome much adversity. Considering the recent surges in cases of Covid-19 related illnesses, we have reviewed our current operating policies concerning the operation of winter sports. Obviously with the decision yesterday to move to online learning on Monday, Dec. 14, this would only impact games scheduled for the remainder of the week and weekend; however, depending on the situation in January, it is possible that we continue with this plan.
Effective immediately, we will begin limiting the number of fans at KCS basketball games until further notice. Each school will be allowed two tickets per basketball players, cheerleaders and dance team. An additional 50 open tickets will be made available, preferably for students. By implementing these guidelines, we feel we will be taking pro-active steps, as a district, to minimize the spread of Covid-19 while giving our winter sports the best opportunity to have complete and successful seasons.
Please note that this only applies to in-district games. Individual schools will reach out to their student athletes and communicate any updates. KCS deeply appreciates your support and understanding on this matter.
