Graduation 2023 Updates!

FAQs for Class of 2023 Graduation For Graduates and Their Families:

We are excited to celebrate your student’s graduation with you on Friday, May 19th at 6 pm. Please read the following information carefully to get some answers to frequently asked questions about our upcoming celebration.

Question: Where is Dan Y. Boring Stadium?

Dan Y. Boring Stadium is the football stadium located next to Central High School.

Question: Where do graduates join the processional line up?

Students will check in the commons at 5 pm on Friday, May 19th. Once a graduate joins the processional line up they must remain in their spot. If a graduate moves from their processional spot they will be removed from the ceremony proceedings. Please note the processional will be in alphabetical order.

Question: Where will we park?

Parking will be available in the main parking lot on Jacksboro Pike.The side parking lot closest to the baseball field is reserved for staff only. Please note that this is about a 0.2 mile walk to the stadium. Unfortunately there will not be designated handicapped parking but there will be a drop off zone near the stadium.

Question: Where/How can we drop off those with mobility issues?

A drop off zone will be available next to the stadium. To access the dropoff zone:

● Turn off Essary Drive onto Stanton Road at the public library.

● Take first right onto Marion Street and follow to stadium.

● A police officer will show you where to drop off and turn around.

● Return to main parking lot to park your vehicle

Question: Is there wheelchair accessibility?

All attendees in wheelchairs will be seated on the track and they may have one person accompanying them. Other handicap seating is limited and is first come, first serve.

Question: Will there Language Interpreters be available?

Yes. Interpreters will be made available if request are made prior to Wednesday, April 12th. Make your request by emailing Susan Davidson at susan.davidson@knoxschools.org.

Question: Will bathroom facilities be open during the ceremony?

Yes, our facilities at the stadium will be available for use during the ceremony.

Question: Where do we meet up with our graduate after the ceremony?

Graduates will leave the ceremony and process back onto campus to pick up their diploma and then exit through the front entrance gate. Please plan to meet your graduate back in the main parking lot. We kindly ask you to leave the stadium after all staff, graduates, and dignitaries have exited the stadium.
