Letter from your new PTA President, Janet Morgan

We are off to a great start here at A.L. Lotts! It has been so great to meet so many new families and see old friends too. We appreciate the support of the staff, teachers, and families to have such a successful PTA Membership drive! As our mornings start to get a little cooler, I look forward to Fall. When we think about Fall at A.L. Lotts, we start getting excited about our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17th from 10am - 2pm. I hope you will join me at this fun event! You and your family will have the chance to bid on wonderful baskets in our silent auction, enjoy delicious baked goods in our bake sale, make crafts, enjoy bounce houses, and so much more! Room parents will be busy in September gathering silent auction basket items as well as scheduling volunteers. I hope you will find a way to be a part of this special event through your child’s class. Thank you for your continual support of the PTA and the school!

 

 

PTA 2015-2016 Membership drive

We had an exceptional PTA Membership drive this year. We were able to reach our goal of 1050 memberships!  The class with the highest percentage of membership in each grade earned a Popsicle party and their teacher will receive a free lunch.  

Kindergarten-Ms. Lockwood with 131%

First Grade- Ms. Allen with 173%

Second Grade- Ms. Tipton with 274%

Third Grade-Mr. Brown with 250%

Fourth Grade- Ms. Alexander with 162%

Fifth Grade- Ms. Riley with 183%

The overall class winner that gets to keep The Lottie Trophy for the year is Ms. Tipton's second grade class. They had the highest membership percentage with 274%. Congratulations Ms. Tipton!  All of second grade did exceptionally well with being the only grade that had each of the eight classes reaching 100% respectively. The second grade teachers were also the first grade level to reach 100% teacher membership. Thank you!

Finally, the grade level with the best hallway decorations focused on this year's PTA theme of Building Lotts of Champions is the fourth grade! Thank you to all of the teachers and students for helping make the A.L. Lotts PTA so successful!

A. L. Lotts Fall Festival coming soon!

Saturday, October 17th
10 am - 2 pm

Please join us for an incredible day of fun. Bring your families and friends and help support the biggest, most fun FUNdraiser of the school year! All proceeds directly impact the school and PTA.

This year we will have new inflatables, new games, new prizes, new crafts, new snacks, and past favorites including the photo booth. Marco's Pizza will serve lunch this year. You can preorder your food and even select delivery time! Details to come.

The Silent Auction, Bake Sale, and Loot Jars will again be part of the Fall Festival. Lotts Spiritwear including t-shirts, magnets, tumblers and more will be available for purchase. Have some extra cash?

Yearbooks are the cheapest they will be all year as long as you purchase by Sept. 11th. They are $30, and you can pick up an order form in the Office. Online sales start Sept. 15th at Balfour.com, and the price will be $35

PAWS Registration

It's PAWS registration time! PAWS (Program After-school with Students) is a PTA-sponsored enrichment program open to Lotts students. Registration is open Sept. 8-16.

Classes will be offered Monday-Thursday this year. Classes begin 9/29. Many classes fill up quickly so return all forms and payments as soon as possible to reserve your spot. PAWS is in need of parent volunteers to help with the arrival and dismissal of students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays Sept 29- Nov 16 from 2:30pm-4:15pm. You can volunteer on one, two, three or all four days each week. If you sign-up for two shifts, you earn a free PAWS class for your student! Hurry before all shifts get filled. Art Masters

Art Masters is a great way to spend time with your child in the classroom. You do not have to be artistic to volunteer for Art Masters. The lesson plans are done, examples are available, and the supplies are ready for you to use.  Art Masters requires a time commitment of less than three hours a month. Volunteers will need to coordinate with their child's teacher to schedule dates and times to do art projects. If you are interested in volunteering for Art Masters please talk to your child's teacher and contact ginaeshleman@aol.com or erinroth@gmail.com.

Who’s WhO

In an effort to introduce the new faces on staff at A.L. Lotts we will highlight one new staff member monthly.

Melinda Russell

Assistant Principal

Melinda previously taught at Shannondale Elementary as a fourth grade teacher. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Tusculum and her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Carson Newman. She is a Knoxville native and grew up in the Fountain City area.
