FAFSA- You may now apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Every student, and at least one parent/guardian, has to have an FSA I.D. and your 2017 tax information in order to complete this application. The FAFSA is your “application” for the TN Promise, the HOPE Scholarship and any other type of state, or federal, financial aid. If you do not fill this out, you will NOT receive any monetary help with your college education. 2019 Graduates can begin to apply for FAFSA on October 1st, 2018. Deadline for FAFSA if you are using TN Promise money is Friday, February, 1 2019. http://www.fafsa.gov

ACT is now a graduation requirement!! If you have NOT taken the ACT yet, and you are a junior, you will be able to take the ACT for free on Tuesday, March 12th, 2019. You can also receive a fee waiver and eligible to receive the ACT online prep if you received free and reduced lunch. Please see Mrs. Taylor for an ACT voucher. Don’t forget to list your choice of 4 schools during your registration process as well. Your ACT scores from this test will not be on your transcripts for a few months, so if you don’t list the schools, and then they need those results, you will have to pay for ACT to send them.

The ACT test scores are very important for college admission and scholarships!!!  I know it is a hard exam, but if you do not achieve the score you desire then please retake it as many times as you feel necessary to get that desired score!!  Some scholarships start at a composite score of 24-26, but many more are available for scores of 28+.  We have prep books in the guidance office, there are websites that offer helpful tips (google can be your best friend), or there are tutoring courses available for a fee.  Some colleges superscore, but most scholarship opportunities do not, also, some of those scholarships have a December 1st cut off date.  So, give it all you've got, and as soon as possible!!  Below is the new ACT schedule:
