MICA, Measurement Incorporated Classroom Assessment, is an interactive web-based classroom assessment and learning tool for Tennessee educators. MICA will serve as the delivery system for the TNReady Item Sampler, a bank of test items aligned to the Tennessee Academic Standards in English Language Arts and Math for grades 3 through 8 and high school. MICA, along with the TNReady Practice Tests delivered in MIST, make up the TNReady Practice Tools available free to Tennessee educators and districts.
The purpose of MICA is to give educators access to items that reflect the rigor and quality of items that will be on TNReady, the new assessment in English Language Arts and Math that will begin during the 2015-16 school year. Teachers can use the items to create their own custom assessments to administer on-demand in their classrooms and to provide students with an opportunity to practice with the same online assessment tools they will have on TNReady in MIST, Measurement Incorporated Secure Testing platform.
MICA will be implemented in two phases: Phase 1 will begin in May of 2015 for Tennessee educators. The Phase 1 item sampler will include 8 -12 items per subject and grade representing the full range of item types. Phase 2 will begin in September of 2015 for both teachers and students and will include additional items per subject and grade, representing the full range of standards.
