Welcome Rising 9th Graders!
Welcome to Bearden High School. On this page, you will find everything you need to know about scheduling for your freshman year at Bearden. Please be sure to visit our elective course descriptions to find out more about electives at BHS.
As well, if you do not agree with your teacher's recommendation for your core classes (social studies, math, english, science), you will need to submit an academic release. All forms you need regarding freshman scheduling/registration are below.
Registration Timeline at a Glance
February 25th – Window opens in Aspen to input requests online. (WVMS only).
February 25th – Bearden Counselors will be at CBMS talking with current 8th grade students.
February 27th – Bearden Counselors will be at BMS talking with current 8th grade students.
February 28th – Bearden Counselors will be at WVMS talking with current 8th grade students about BHS!
March 5th – Curriculum Night at BHS – 8th Grade parents are invited to Bearden to learn more about BHS!
March 6th – Course Selection sheets are due back to the Middle School Counselors.
March 6th - Window closes in ASPEN to request course online (WVMS only).
March 8th – Academic Releases are due – Return to BHS Counselors.
March 8th – Bearden Counselors will pick up Course Selection Sheets for Middle Schools.
March 29th – 8th graders will visit BHS during the day for a presentation and tour of the school.
May 2019 – Freshman Counselors will begin working on schedules for rising 9th graders.
July 2019 – Schedules will be released in Aspen to students.
August 2nd – Freshman Orientation – 8:30 to 12, buses will run.
August 5th – First half day of school – 8:30 to 12, buses will run.
Students who disagree with an academic class recommendation can fill out an Academic Release Form. For example - you want to be in honors math but were recommended for CP. Or Recommended for Honors English 1/AP Human Geography but would like to be in CP English 1 and CP World History.
Please note the statement: I am requesting that my student be enrolled in the course(s) named below, although academic data and performance records were used for placing my student in the appropriate level of courses. I take academic responsibility for this decision. I understand that my student’s schedule will not be changed, if he/she is unsuccessful in the new course.
