Metropolitan Drug Commission
Karns High School is collaborating with the Metropolitan Drug Commission to help get the word out to parents not to support teenage drinking. Parents play a crucial role in prevention. It is a fact that teens with "hands-on" parents have a 25 percent lower risk of using alcohol or other drugs than teens with parents not involved or concerned about their habits and/or whereabouts. The Drug-Free Action Alliance is educating parents about the health and safety risks of serving alcohol at teen parties and increasing the awareness of and compliance with underage drinking laws. Parents can spend up to 11 months and 29 days in jail under the Social Host Law for providing alcohol to a minor.
