  • Hornets Gearing up for Tommy Bettis Memorial Tourney at Maury

For the past couple of weeks in the CMS gym, the sound of squeaking shoes on the floor can be heard for a couple of hours a day as the Hornets prepare for battle this season. Coach Rudolph's Hornets are the defending Knox County Regular Season Champions and they begin the new year by making their annual trip to the Tommy Bettis Memorial Tournament at Maury on Thursday night.

The Hornets return only one player from last season that saw a significant amount of playing time at the varsity level, so inexperience will be a factor for this years team. Rudolph said, "We are starting fresh and teaching a lot in practice". He hopes that his team can learn how to defend and rebound for them to become a successful team and see positive results. Although the Hornets are not blessed with height, as they have only one player over 6 feet tall. Rudolph reinterated "We are working hard at rebounding, and motion in our offense." These two key parts of the game are things that the Hornets are going to have to do well to be successful. Defense and rebounding are top priorities for Rudolph's teams and this year is no different.

The Hornets begin their season Thursday at the Tommy Bettis Memorial Tournament at Maury at 8:30pm against the host school.
