In every school across the district, dedicated educators are creating accessible and effective learning environments that empower students to achieve success no matter their language, ability, or proficiency. Their efforts are regularly supported by substitute teachers and tutors--both paid district positions with uniquely flexible hours.
Substitute Teaching
Substitute teachers are crucial to ensuring a seamless learning experience and Knox County Schools seeks responsible, compassionate, and dedicated individuals to provide enthusiastic classroom support when teachers are absent.
The Substitute Application requires the submission of three professional references with valid email addresses, two of which must provide a favorable reference.
Drug screening, fingerprinting, and review of the Substitute Handbook are included in the onboarding process.
Tutoring
Tutors offer vitally important personalized student support outside and beyond the traditional classroom setting and Knox County Schools is looking for knowledgeable, patient, and reliable individuals to help students improve proficiency and meet academic goals, especially in reading and math.
All KCS Tutors work in school buildings with small groups of students and focus on literacy in grades K-5. Positions are part-time and can be up to 25 hours per week earning $16.77 per hour.
