Founded in 1995, the Vine School Health Center is a full service pediatric clinic located in the Vine Middle Magnet School in Knoxville, TN. The clinic is a joint cooperative between the University of Tennessee College of Nursing and the Knox County Schools Health Services Department. Its mission is to serve those students who have limited access to health care and improve the overall health and wellness of Knox County school children
Health care services which are offered in the clinic include well child exams, school entry and sport participation physicals, immunizations, care for minor illnesses (colds, strep throat, influenza, pinkeye, etc…), general first aid for injuries, and health and nutritional education. Complete physicals include vision and hearing screening, developmental screening, height an weight with body mass index, lead, anemia, urine and cholesterol screening, diagnostic tests such as rapid strep screens and any necessary laboratory screening tests and referrals.
Mental health care services including individual and family counseling, case management, and medication management are available. We also offer psychoeducational services such as educational assessment and targeted interventions.
These services are available by appointment for all Knox County students. Most services are available at reduced cost to the families of the student based on a generous fee sliding scale. We bill insurance, including TennCare, for those students who are insured.
