Graduation Update #2 (6/01/2020)
Senior Parents and soon to be graduates,
This is Tim Berry with another graduation update. Planning a ceremony is always a very busy task, but planning it in your own stadium, during a pandemic, has posed many challenges. We are now eight days away and our people have been working very hard. I am happy to say that our progress has been positive and we are now ahead of schedule.
Graduation Ticket Pick Up
The next big step is allocating the required graduation tickets for entry. We were going to do this on Friday, but have added an additional day to help with your busy schedules:
- Thursday, June 4th, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Friday, June 5th, from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Again, a reminder that each graduate can only receive 4 tickets and a ticket will be required for admission into the ceremony. It is very important for us to make sure these tickets are secured by the right people, so we will only distribute to a parent or legal guardian who is entered in ASPEN (our student management system) or to the senior student. To ensure we give to the correct person and have proof, you must provide your Tennessee Drivers License. Scanning the name and address will give us the info we need to release the tickets and will require no signature or contact. At this time, we will also give you their report card, senior goody bag and very specific details about the day of graduation. Distribution will begin sharply at the times listed above, so it is not necessary to arrive early. We will have plenty of help to move everyone through very quickly. I do not want to waste a trip for anyone, so please make sure you are approved to pick up tickets and you have a valid driver’s license with you. Also, your laptop will have to be returned in order to release tickets, so bring it with you!
- Friday, June 5th (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM) – There should be more areas of campus decorated (rock, signage along fences, SD Nike Backdrop, etc) at that time.
- Tuesday, June 9th (Post-Graduation) – We will leave campus open for approximately one hour to capture those final moments before departure.
Virtual Post-Secondary Roll Call
Finally, we are organizing a Virtual Post-Secondary Roll Call (formally, College Roll Call) and using a web-site called VidHug to produce your segment of the video. I have attached a link below that will take you directly to the site for you to produce a short video of yourself, stating your name and where you will be attending college, post-secondary trade school or the military, following graduation. We are asking that you wear your graduation cap and gown when making your video (wont accept without it). Then we will compile everyone’s segment together for one large ceremony that we will share with you in the weeks ahead. This is just a fun, quick way to secure a few more memories of your graduating class. This will be closed once graduation ends on the 9th.
That is all for now. You can find all of this information and more in our school messenger email and our school web-site. I am excited to see everyone on Thursday or Friday!
Grace and peace be with you all!
