    Potential Bearden Golfer,

On behalf of the Bearden High Golf Program, we would like to invite you to tryout for the 2020 Bearden Golf team. Tryouts will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 4:00 at Gettysvue. Every participant must bring a completed physical form to tryout. We will have a time of skills evaluation before playing 9 holes. Immediately following tryouts will be a parent meeting in the clubhouse for those that make the team. We will discuss the upcoming season, expectations, pay team fees, and answer any questions.

We are planning on having 4 players for the girls team and 8 for the boys team, so put in the proper amount of preparation between now and tryouts to give yourself the best opportunity to make the team. Please send Coach Lane an email at Tyler.Lane@knoxschools.org if you plan on coming to tryouts.

In the meantime, there are some other important events and reminders of which you need to be aware:

Ø For those that make the team, we will have a team retreat on a date that is TBD. Once this date is set, please keep this date open on your schedules, as this is very important for setting expectations and building team chemistry.

Ø If you make the team, qualifying for the tournaments in the fall season will be based on pre-season team qualifying rounds as well as individual summer tournaments. Every member of the BHS Golf Team is expected to play in AT LEAST 3 spring/summer tournaments. Your top 3 18 hole scores from spring/summer tournaments (Sneds tour, HJGT, AJGA, Jr. Club Championship, etc.) will be combined with team qualifying to determine the lineup for early matches. The more tournaments you play, the more it increases your chances to make the lineup.

Ø Official practice season will be Monday, July 15th-Friday July 26th. Details of this practice season will be discussed at the team retreat.

Ø Follow @Beardengolf on Twitter for everything golf related, from events and scheduling to golf updates and articles.

Ø We will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday, August 15th from 8-10am at Aubrey’s (Cedar Bluff/Middlebrook). Tickets will be $5. Please help spread the word.

We look forward to working with you and growing the Bearden Golf program into something special.

    Coach Tyler Lane
