The construction of two middle schools in the Gibbs and Hardin Valley communities is underway. They will open in August 2018.
The new schools will require some enrollment zoning changes from existing schools.
Middle school zones that could be affected when Gibbs Middle opens include: Gresham, Halls, Holston, South Doyle, Vine and Whittle Springs. School zones that could be affected when Hardin Valley Middle opens include: Bearden, Cedar Bluff, Karns, Farragut and West Valley.
As part of the rezoning process, several community meetings will be held to gather priorities and concerns.
The community meetings will be held at 6 p.m. on the following days and locations:
Nov. 28 at Farragut Middle School (Focus will be Hardin Valley Middle)
Dec. 6 at Gibbs Elementary School (Focus will be Gibbs Middle)
Jan. 10 at South-Doyle Middle School (Focus will be Gibbs Middle)
Jan. 17 at Hardin Valley Elementary School (Focus will be Hardin Valley Middle)
Jan. 24 at Holston Middle School (Focus will be Gibbs Middle)

The meetings will be broadcast live on KCS-TV Comcast Channel 10 and streamed live at knoxschools.org/kcstv. A second series of meetings will be held this spring to present a rezoning proposal.
