Parent Resources

The Tennessee Department of Education has developed an updated Parent Guide to Being TNReady for the 2016-17 school year and a supplemental Guide on TNReady Supports for Students with Disabilities. There is also a one-page handout that explains the Role of High Level Assessments and a new 2016-17 Assessment FAQ webpage that provides additional information for parents and teachers.

Our Beliefs

As student support services personnel, we believe the role of our department is to:
 
  • Identify students with special needs and create opportunities to reach each child's potential by setting high expectations.
  • Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, administrators, support staff, community, etc.) that encourage advocacy, collaboration, and responsibility
  • Promote innovative and research-base instructional techniques and support for students and staff.
  • Ensure appropriate educational opportunities through collaboration and inclusive practices.
  • Develop productive and independent citizens through student-centered transition planning (including self-advocacy).
